“To write is to write is to write is to write is to write” wrote Gloria Steinem. And, it’s true. It’s way-too easy for us writers to everything but. This is a brand-new teleclass is designed to keep you accountable to your own creative urges. You’ll fill pages and pages with new material… from the comfort of your own favourite chair.
How Does It Work?
It’s pretty simple. Before the class starts, I’ll give you a phone number and a code. You use a regular old phone, (or Skype) to call me up at the said times. We spend one-and a quarter hours together, writing. If you miss a session, you can listen to it on my website, later. Sessions will be available for two months from the class start.
This is a “lightly interactive” class, so I’ll be inviting people to share their work from time to time, but there will likely be weeks when you’re not called on. Of course, no one ever has to share! I’ll just be there, holding the space, with a smattering of prompts and tiny projects to write from, and you will write, write write; rants and raves, tiny letters, lists, memories… maybe even some poetry. (Don’t worry. I’ll walk you through it.)
Who is it for?
This class is ideal for:
* People who used to write, but can’t seem to get back into the groove.
* People with a lot to say and not a lot of time.
* People who yearn for just a little structure and inspiration to get their creative lights turned on.
Who is the class *not* for?
Since it’s a relatively independent class, I don’t recommend it for chronic procrastinators. You should work with me directly. I also don’t recommend it if you are feeling extremely focused on a specific project. This class is aaaall about new material.
Who will read my work?
You may be invited to share your work (if you choose to) over the phone from time to time, but this class is mostly about you and the page. No one will be looking over your shoulder or checking your grammar.
What will I get out of it?
Mostly, you’ll get a whole lot of writing out of this. You’ll probably also get a deeper sense of your voice, your deep themes and where you want to go next with your writing.
What if I have to miss a call?
No worries! All the calls will be available after they have aired for two months through a secret corner of my website, available only to class participants. Thanks to this, you don’t need to be free at any of the scheduled times, and you can still get the most of the course.
